SODOMA, Wanda Lark (Stafford)
Wanda Lark (Stafford) Sodoma, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord November 16, 2017 after succumbing to a heart issue. She was 90 years old.
Wanda was born in Indiana October 15, 1927. She and her husband, Frank Stafford, relocated to California after their marriage in 1947. Wanda went on to marry Donald Sodoma in 1976. Wanda leaves behind three daughters, Kristi Lark (Stafford) Teeple, Sandy Linette (Stafford) Toppen and Connie (Sodoma) Lee, as well as her grandchildren Bailey (Teeple) Price, Scott Vincent Teeple, Michael James Lee, and her great grand children Trey, Brady and Brynn Price.
Wanda was a teacher for over 50 years. She began her teaching career at First Christian Church Pomona as the first Director of their preschool, where she served for 10 years. Once she completed her education at La Verne University, she taught at Mountain View School in Claremont, and only recently retired at the age of 89. Even while legally blind, she was a reading teacher, and always enjoyed enriching the lives of children.
Wanda was a long term member of PEO and Delta Kappa Gamma (Beta Mu Chapter). Some of her awards include Dodger Education Hero (1991), Outstanding Women in History (DKG), Home Maker of the Year (Glendora) and Honorary Service Award for PTA Leadership in Glendora. Wanda's church home was First Christian Church (Pomona), where she enjoyed worship as well as singing in the choir.
Wanda's hobbies included collecting Paddington Bear memorabilia, bird houses, children's books, travel, tennis, playing the piano and organ and, of course, anything Purple.
She cherished her time with her family and friends. She was always up for a game of cards or a glass of wine with the girls. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church Pomona, 1751 Park Avenue, Pomona, CA 91768.
