  Information provided by Georgina (RUZICKA) SHORT on 18 Feb 2003... My Dad's brother Val full name is Valerian (I believe this is the spelling) Edward and he changed his name from RUZICKA to ROSE during the 2nd World War or shortly after. He told the story that while he was stationed in Scotland during the 2nd WW they had such a time with Ruzicka that he changed it to Rose.
