Emil Tuma
Emil Albert Tuma, 83, of Pocatello died May 5, 2005 at Portneuf Hospital in Pocatello.
He was born April 1, 1922 in Cotesfield, Neb. to Frank Albert Tuma and Hilda Maravec. He grew up in Nebraska and at the age of 16, he started working as a ranch hand. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Private 1st class. He was honorably discharged.
On July 22, 1960 he married Carolyn Lee Lockyer in Jackson Hole, Wyo. They were later divorced. He loved horses and the great outdoors. He worked on ranches most of his life in Nebraska, Wyoming and Idaho. In his later years he worked as a groom in Idaho Fall for the Idaho Racing Commission taking care of horses.
He is survived by three children, Lauralee (Keith) Johnson of Shelley, Lisa Ann Tuma and Shane Albert Tuma, both of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were held May 6 at the Riverview Cemetery in Firth where military rites were performed. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.nadler-funeralhome.com.

Baby Dies Saturday, Was Badly Burned Four Days Before
Burns received on November 8 when he fell into a pot of boiling water proved fatal four days later to Laverne [sic] Frank Novak, two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank F. Novak, Jr., who passed away at the Ord hospital at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, November 12. He was an only child and is being greatly mourned.
The little boy was born June 23, 1930 at the family home thirteen miles west of Ord. When death came Saturday he was two years, four months and nineteen days old.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sowl's chapel, Rev. L. M. Real being in charge, and interment was in the Bhoemian National cemetery at Ord. Pallbearers were Harvey Krahulik, George Radil, Eugene Puncochar and Eddie Puncochar. The services were largely attended by griends and relatives of the family from Howard county as well as the vicinity.
Out of town relatives at the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Zavitka, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Frandsen and children, Mr. and Mrs. James Zwitka and children, all of Elba, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Svoboda and daughter Minnie and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dworak, of Farwell, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tuma, of Cotesfield, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Krbel, of Sargent, Mr. and Mrs. Coln and children and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nightengale, of Burwell.
Source note: It is assumed that the obituary refers to Frank Albert and Hilda Agnes TUMA as they are indicated as being from Cotesfield and that is where the TUMA family historically resided.
